SPOILER ALERT! INITIALLY UGLY WING IS ACTUALLY NOT THAT BAD!
When we released photos of our newly painted Baltic Supra – LAG – you might have been one of many to ask “what the hell is that wing?” or say “Ur SpOiLeR iS tRaSh.”
Undoubtedly a very distinct shape and style, it is a two piece spoiler designed by Japanese manufacturer, Trial in 1993. With only 3 known to exist, the only history you will find on this piece is a pre-2000 product image with no information available.
We were lucky enough to snatch one of these bad boys in Sydney and it immediately become part of Abewd’s rare parts stash and was sent to Kass Bodyworks to be meticulously revived in Baltic Blue.
So what makes the dual blade wing is actually a factory Supra wing which features a second wing beneath it made of fibreglass.
The top-most section of the factory wing is cut down the centre where an adjustable, fibreglass blade with carbon fibre fins are slotted giving it that bold, aerodynamic aesthetic.
Also, the adjustable blade promotes downforce and was designed with circuit and drag racing in mind.
The crown-piece of LAG, initially no-one on the team liked it except the owner – Abewd (who only wanted it because it’s rare) – BUT, admittedly it has grown on us and looks better every time we lay eyes on it. So what are your honest thoughts?
