ERIC’S AUSTRALIAN EXPORTED SUPRA RIDOX TRANSFORMATION
Before we got to know this Supra, we already knew it. Before All Street, it belonged to one of our founders, Abewd. Thrilled to see his former glory in the USA, we got into contact with Eric to see how far the car has come since leaving Australia and can firmly say the Supra is no longer recognisable!
“Abewd actually reached out to me after I picked it up saying he used to own it, and now I’m finding out if anyone buys one from Australia, it’s probably one of his.”
The love begins for Eric under the seduction of a Toyota Supra with a Ridox kit at a local car show. Having never been a fan of them, Eric took a fond liking to the style and saw a new potential in the car he would prey on in his R32 GT-R. That was the day Eric realised he was a widebody man.
Under the influence of the Toyota Supra, he searched for two months within America for a USDM model but often found that they were listed at upwards $60K USD which placed a great divide between him and his goal.
2017 proved to be hopeless times for Eric up until he received a message from a friend of his at RHD Specialities who offered to find him a Supra in Australia that was within his budget—but, oh yes, he would have to wait a full year for the Supra to become FED legal to import. RHD Specialities gave him a full sponsorship to pursue this goal and alleviate the wait – and with a sick craving for the Supra, he sold his R32 GT-R and put the papers down on his new Aussie Sheila.
“So I had to wait until August of 2018, almost a year for it to arrive. It was a super tough decision, but ended up being so worth it for the price.”
Alas, load off day—August 2018—the day he had awaited for an entire year. Erupting with anticipation, Eric was met with his new pride and joy—a black stallion running mechanically perfect, only needing some paint correction to bring out her headlights. 😉 He even got the mandatory RHD Specialties wedding photos!
From September 2018 to January 2019, the Supra sat in a body shop with four hours scheduled work for every day of the week, whilst Saturdays and Sundays were dedicated to bringing the car to fruition.
In the works was a full Ridox widebody kit with a Shine Auto front bar and carbon fibre lip, Varis canards and wide fenders with carbon fibre pods, giving it bold and aggressive racecar impression. Eric proudly assisted in the sanding, prepping, fitting and installing panels and pieces while giving honours to his close friend to respray it in a BMW M2 Long Beach Metallic Blue (C16).
Amplifying the the Supra’s look, it features a VIS carbon fibre wing, Pro Spec Imports Sniper Ring LED taillights, custom headlights crafted by himself and also houses all carbon parts from Shine Auto including side skirts and extensions, rear quarters and rear diffuser. It is also sat on Stance coilovers and full camber arms set on 19-inch, 3-piece, SSR MS3 wheel on Hankook Ventus V12 EVO 2 tyres.
Today the RZ has done only 80,000 kilometres, powered by a 2JZ-GTE engine, a 6-speed manual gearbox (V160), stock ceramic ball bearing twin turbos, and a stock ECU making 320HP on 14PSI.
The interior boasts the full Pro Spec Imports catalogue, a Vigilante steering wheel with an NRG quick release, Retro-Spec carbon fibre glovebox, armrest, cupholder and storage cubby whilst featuring custom upholstery on the seats and door panel by Ridies Crafted Interior. The centrepiece and main spectacle of the interior is of course, a not-so-lowkey 6-point Cusco bolt-in cage which required a rear seat delete by MVP Motorsports.
Without a doubt Eric’s build has gained a lot of popularity and attention, being a crowd favourite and award winner at his local shows. Throughout the process of owning the Supra, not only has it taught him patience and discipline—but it has also strengthened his determination and inspired him to go further with his build and spiritual journey as a car enthusiast. Not to mention, it has bought him closer to a passionate community he truly resonates with. Within his Washington Supra group, there are over a dozen of which have been exported from Australia.
“They all seem to be very solid built cars—a few of them came with Pro Spec Imports goodies, so I knew they were from Australia.”
Unpredictable and impulsive Eric says next thing to tick off the list is to install a single turbo for more power mentioning he isn’t committed to it long term as he may get bored of it as he has new goals with radar on the new MKV Supra or an Audi R8.
