KING2J OUT TO BE FASTEST STREET SUPRA IN THE WORLD
On the 1st of June, Frank Tarabay’s KING2J became the fastest street driven Supra (on radials) in Australia with a deadly pass of 7.04 seconds @ 194mph at Sydney Dragway. In the world of street trim, it is the second fastest Supra after the famous Real Street built GEO2JZ which currently holds the top place with 6.91 seconds @ 199mph. No-where near finished and so close to tasting 6’s, Frank is on the quest to be number one.
Being an amateur racer—having only done fifteen passes—within only three months of completion, Frank shot into the league of the world’s fastest Supras, debuting his build on the 6th of March, running 7.7 seconds @ 184mph and returning to the drag strip on the 1st of June to smash his new record of 7.04 seconds @ 194mph.
Delivered to Gas Racing late 2018 in immaculate condition, the 2000 model Toyota Supra SZ was in factory form and was to undergo eight months of intense modifications. With the goal to stick to street standards, KING2J is proudly a street registered car with it’s complete factory interior, original panels and full weight.
“We wanted to go fast with a 2JZ and wanted it done quick, what better way than to do it with a Supra.”
Built and tuned by Gas Racing, powering Australia’s fastest Supra is a 2JZ-GTE engine with a 3.2L stroker kit, 6-boost manifold and dry sump, Precision 94 Promod turbo, TH400 transmission, and Fueltech ECU, giving it a screamer of 1700HP+ on 60PSI!
“The biggest challenge was going fast in street form as it’s never been done by Gas Racing… So water in the block, on a radial and no wheelie bars.”
Plazmaman took the honours in all engine fabrication, fitting their premium radiator and intake to the build, whilst Mongster Fabrication crafted a six-point point roll cage and managed all body work.
Wrapped in 275 radial tyres, KING2J sits on Weld V Series wheels and Penske shocks, encouraging the traction for that lucky 7.
The Supra is also fit with Tilet carbon racing seats to top everything off.
Currently going in for a victory respray-refresher, KING2J will return to the Dragway shortly with the intention of having the fastest street registered car in Australia on radial tyres.
Frank will be with the Gas Racing team on Saturday the 15th of June at Sydney Dragway in an effort to crack 6’s.
And GEO, if you’re reading this, he’s coming for the crown.
